About Duura
Duura grew out of a frustration shared by restaurant owners and home cooks alike: reliable kitchen equipment should not require a six-figure budget. The founding team spent over a decade working inside the food service equipment supply chain, sourcing compressors, fabricating stainless steel cabinets and troubleshooting walk-in coolers for national restaurant groups. They saw firsthand how a $200 thermostat failure on a cheap freezer could ruin thousands of dollars in inventory overnight.
In 2018 the team launched Duura with a single product: a 30 cubic foot chest freezer rated to both UL 471 and NSF-7 commercial standards. The design prioritized three-inch wall insulation for fast temperature recovery, split locking lids for one-handed loading, and locking casters so operators could reposition the unit for cleaning without a second pair of hands. That freezer sold out within weeks, and the feedback shaped everything that followed.
The product line expanded category by category. First came reach-in commercial freezers with digital temperature displays and open-door alerts. Then the Elite series brought pantry refrigerators, French door models with bottom-drawer freezers and dual-zone wine coolers with wooden pull-out shelves. Gas ranges with convection ovens and under-cabinet range hoods in three widths followed. Most recently Duura added a compact crescent ice maker that runs without a drain line, filling a gap for bars, offices and RV kitchens.
Today Duura offers 16 appliances across 10 categories. Every product runs on a standard 115V household outlet, so a restaurant prep cook and a suburban homeowner can install the same unit with the same plug. Commercial certifications remain non-negotiable: every freezer and refrigerator carries UL 471 and NSF-7 ratings. DOE and EPA compliance keeps energy costs in check while environmentally friendly refrigerants align with current regulations.
The company operates from Wapakoneta, Ohio, with a warehouse and service center positioned to ship nationwide. A full one-year limited parts and labor warranty backs every product, and the support team answers calls during business hours without routing through overseas call centers. Repair technicians access a centralized parts inventory so replacement components ship the same day when possible.
Duura's roadmap focuses on expanding the Elite line with additional built-in refrigeration options and professional-grade cooking appliances. The team tests every prototype in a working test kitchen before releasing it to production. Feedback from restaurant owners, bar managers and home chefs guides each design decision. The goal remains the same one that launched the company: bring commercial-grade reliability to every kitchen, at a price that makes the investment straightforward.
